Syzygy Consulting

You've reached the home page of Eric Messick at Syzygy Consulting. You can also find my photographic portfolio at Syzygy Photography.

You can send email to me. You may want to encrypt it using my gpg public key.

Right now, I'm focusing on going back to grad school to work on surface chemistry using scanning probe microscopy.

I've got plenty of projects going on in the background, though. My primary focus is in the design of large cross-disciplinary systems. I'm interested in developing solid foundations for developing large and complex computing systems.

You can check out my resume. Note that it hasn't been updated in a while, since I'm concentrating on school at the moment. The printable version also doubles as a code sample. If you save it to disk and look at the text you can see that it starts with a simple text formatter written in PostScript.

Older stuff

I'm trying to put together a project that I'm tentatively referring to as a "Secure Object Format". It's basically a virtual machine specification for capability secure asynchronous distributed computing. Did I get enough buzzwords in there to make that sufficiently unclear? Check out the link for more info.

Here are a bunch of astronomical root background images that I have collected. They're all .jpg images at 1280x1024 resolution. Each is accompanied by the caption from the original source image.
