Here are some shots from another
Cabrillo College
astronomy field trip class.
For
this class, we headed south to the Big Sur coast, pictured above.
We hung out around the telescopes, looking at birds during the day,
and stars and planets at night. We also were able to look at the sun
through binoculars (Don't try this at home!) through
specially designed solar filters.
"Dr Rick"
lectured on geology during the day, here handing around a piece of
schist.
To cool off, we visited a stream flowing through the campground.
I'd always wanted to get some shots of flying wet hair, and finally
got the chance.
Rick wanted to try too, but I'm afraid he doesn't have the hair for
it.
After reenacting a scene from 2001, Rick settles down to give a
chilling lecture on planetary cooling rates.
