Lynne and I went to Yosemite over thanksgiving. We stayed about an hour outside the park and drove in each morning.

On the first day, we hiked to the top of Vernal Falls, where I took this very wide angle panorama:

The pool at the base of the waterfall is directly below the camera.

The next day, we hiked from the route 41 tunnel near the west end of the valley up to what's labeled "Old Inspiration Point" on the map. On the way up we stopped at the "New" Inspiration Point, and I got this nice shot of Lynne with Half Dome in the background:

When we finally made it up to the valley rim, it was time for lunch, and another panorama:

When we had climbed down the "knee pounding descent" back to the tunnel parking lot, the light was starting to get good for a valley sunset. Lynne got this shot early on, then decided that I could freeze next to my camera without her help:

As the light started getting better, I experimented with some complicated pictures, including some stacked panoramas that I haven't been able to stitch together yet. I did get a single image stack put together, though. This is an addition of five different images taken at different exposures. The brightest pixels are taken from the shortest exposure, and the darkest from the longest exposure. Each image was first multiplied by the exposure time, so the brightnesses of the images was the same, only the contrast was different between the images. Unfortunately, most of the depth is lost when converting to 8 bits per channel for display:

The next day was rainy and cold, turning to snow overnight. Not very interesting for pictures until the next morning, when Bridalveil Falls looked like this:

And Yosemite falls looked like this:

We climbed up quite close to Lower Yosemite Falls, and got these wonderful shots:

Then it was time for a quick stroll up to Mirror Lake, which had a layer of ice partially covering it:

Then back into a warm car for the trip home...
